Our Vision

This question could actually be answered very briefly: Where else, if not here? All the more so because the builders are proven motorbike experts:
the twin brothers Alban and Attila Scheiber from Hochgurgl - hoteliers, ski school operators, cable car entrepreneurs and owners of the Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road - are enthusiastic motorcyclists. Their father Alban Scheiber senior, a former professional racing driver and well-known Tyrolean tourism pioneer, instilled in them a passion for motors.

Over the course of more than two decades, Alban and Attila Scheiber had built up one of the most extensive and valuable collections of historic motorbikes in Austria and in 2016 created an extraordinary and dignified setting for these more than 350 exhibits in the TOP Mountain Crosspoint designed by Tyrolean architect Michael Broetz ( - directly on the Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road, the most attractive route across the Alps for motorcyclists, in a building with a breathtaking architectural language and amidst the impressive backdrop of the Ötztal Alps.

Then the shock: In January 2021, the motorbike museum with over 350 unique exhibits burns down and is almost completely destroyed, a huge loss for the entire motorbike and classic car community. However, the Hochgurgl visionaries and motorbike enthusiasts Attila and Alban Scheiber did not give up their lifelong dream:
A few months after the fire accident, the TOP Mountain Motorcycle Museum reopened on 18 November 2021 - bigger, more spectacular, more informative and more eventful! A new, comprehensive concept with exciting motorbike stories, historic racing machines and a varied, partly interactive programme enthused a wide audience right from the start.

In addition to the rare and partly antique vintage motorbikes and oldtimers from 1885 to today - again more than 450 exhibits from the start! - which are divided into new time categories and epochs and can be experienced by visitors as a walk-through motor history on an exhibition area of over 4,500 m², the TOP Mountain Motorcycle Museum now offers another major highlight:

The Motor Experience, a multimedia world of experience with 4D cinema, motor wall, technology simulations and of course lots of engine noise - here you can experience the fascination of a motorbike ride with all your senses even without a motorbike licence!
